Matthew L. Kabak focuses on real estate transactions, including the purchase, sale, leasing, financing and development of commercial and residential property and related business matters.
Matt brings over 15 years of legal experience and valuable operational real estate capability to the role of outside counsel. Prior to joining Peterson & Price, Matt was in-house counsel to an affordable housing program administrator for municipal clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. There, he worked directly with an asset management team as legal oversight for a portfolio of over 1,000 units of deed restricted for ownership single family residences, select multi-family rental projects and municipal loan funds. He was instrumental in the preservation of both housing units and shared equity through the acquisition, renovation and resale of distressed properties. He also interacted with city attorneys, community development directors and housing managers to define the optimal legal strategy for the assets.
Earlier in his career, Matt founded and operated a commercial law practice in San Francisco representing the interests of businesses, entrepreneurs, brokers, property owners and commercial tenants in a variety of commercial and real estate transactions, entity formations and risk management solutions.
Matt began his career in association with a San Francisco boutique law firm for professional athletes, entertainers and high-profile entrepreneurs where he was responsible for business transactions and litigation.
He earned a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of San Diego, a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College.
Matt is a licensed California Real Estate Broker, a member of the USD Real Estate Alumni Society, the San Diego Bar Association, and the Real Property Section of the State Bar.
